Medical Electrode Manufacturing
For over 10 years Screentec has been applying its’ knowledge and experience in the field of printed electronics to manufacture custom disposable medical electrodes for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Because of our experience in electronics, we are able to offer our customers the same high quality and reliability that we provide with our other products.
The following are several examples of fields in which these electrodes are used, of course at Screentec we are able to combine these measurements to accommodate disruptive and innovative new applications!
Electrophysiological electrodes
Below you will find examples of Electrophysiological electrodes. These electrodes are used for bio-electric feedback measurements of the subjects and can be used in a variety of diagnostic applications.
ECG
Electrocardiogram- or ECG electrodes are used to measure the heart rate of subjects.
EEG
Electroencephalography- or EEG electrodes are used in applications where brain activity is monitored. One example is in the field of sleep research.
EMG
Electromyography- or EMG electrodes are used to measure electrical signals in the muscles of a subject. This can help with the diagnosis of patients with muscle atrophy.
Bio-impedance
Bio-impedance electrodes are used to approximate a subject's body composition. It is used, among other things to gain insight in the fat percentage of a subject.
EOG
EOG electrodes help detect a variety of different eye afflictions and can help bring human machine interfaces to the next level.
Therapeutic Electrodes
Below you will find several different examples of therapeutic electrodes in which we have experience. These electrodes send electrical pulses through the skin to relieve pain, stimulate muscles and more.

FES
Functional Electrical Stimulation or FES electrodes are used in rehabilitation therapy where nerve damage or muscle atrophy occurs. FES is generally restricted to use under professional medical supervision.
TENS
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation or TENS electrodes send mild electrical pulses through the skin. These are often used in applications for pain relief or muscle stimulation in patients with facial paralysis.
Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis electrodes stimulate the pores in the skin to help the skin absorb different medications or nutrients more efficiently. The most common applications for this are found in the beauty industry where these specialised electrodes are used to enhance the effect of different facial creams.
Chemical and Hybrid Sensors
With the increasing demand for data on various different biomarkers, electrical signals are not always enough to get a complete picture of a person’s health or the environment they are in. To this end, Screentec develops sensors which combine different perimeters as well as Electrochemical sensors and electrodes.
Electrochemical Sensors
Electrochemical sensors are one of the most used disposable sensors on the market. From glucose strips to pregnancy tests, they have a great many applications. Continuous development over the last few years has even further increased their uses.
Hybrid Sensors
By combining different sensor technologies, it is possible to create devices which can accurately give information about a host of different parameters.
